Dr. Péter Antal

Associate Professor, Department of Artificial Intelligence and Systems Engineering Budapest University of Technology and Economics (BME), Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Informatics (VIK)

Dr. Péter Antal received his M.Sc. in Computer Engineering from the Budapest University of Technology and Economics in 1995. From 1998 to 2002, he was a visiting researcher and then a Ph.D. student at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at KU Leuven, where he earned his doctorate in the bioinformatics group. Between 2002 and 2007, he was first a teaching assistant and then a lecturer at the Department of Measurement and Information Systems at BME. From 2008 to 2011, he served as a postdoctoral researcher under the Hungarian Scientific Research Fund (OTKA). Since 2008, he has been the leader of the Computational Biomedicine (ComBine) research group, became an associate professor in 2011, and has led the department’s artificial intelligence group since 2019. His research areas include machine learning, knowledge engineering, artificial intelligence, causality research, medical decision support, bioinformatics, and chemoinformatics.
